Father’s Day Weekend/ Great Smoky Mountains

Wolfgang got to choose where to go for Father’s Day weekend. He loves the mountains. I think my cute Alpine man gets a little homesick sometimes. We like going to the Great Smokies in the summer for their beautiful scenery and streams. We stayed in Cherokee, NC the first night, drove and played all the way to Gatlinburg, TN. Then the next day we drove back towards Cherokee again, with stops to hike and play. I have to say that the boys love hiking. They do pretty well and like to stop to admire all the life that we encounter. We get asked a lot where we go, so in this post, I will try to be as specific as possible.

We usually eat breakfast at the hotel and then get groceries for a picnic lunch. These were taken at a pull-off scenic area during a picnic.

On the way up to Clingman’s Dome, they had to stop all.of.the.time. to play on rocks. They had a good time though.

Tophie, our old politician, is trying to give a monologue here:

I couldn’t resist taking another photo in the same place. I will have to dig up our old one and do a “then and now” picture. The old post can be found here: http://cerwinkafamily.com/?p=95

In the clouds:

The next few were taken at Chimneys, a popular picnic area located by a stream where lots of children like to play.

We hiked up to Rock Arch using a path that followed a stream and stopped often to admire the scenery and the little critters.
