Wolfgang and I had taken the week off for the boys’ spring break. We waited and waited to decide where to go. The options were Washington DC, Chicago, fly across the U.S., Okefenokee followed by Disney World and a barrier island. We went back and forth with our decision. We had pros and cons for everything. Ultimately, two weeks before spring break, we settled on the Okefenokee, Disney and a barrier island . We wanted to go to the Okefenokee first, Disney, and then the coast. Mother Nature had other plans. We had to move the Okefenokee to the end of the week since Disney was already set and we would be there rain or shine. It was going to rain everywhere, so we decided to spend the first weekend at home, sleeping in, eating well, enjoying a little stay-cation, and letting the boys play with their neighborhood friends and toys.
Day 1:
Wolfgang wanted to go for a run in the North Georgia Mountains. He usually trail runs for 12-14 miles. Amazing. I can’t even hike that. He takes off in the morning and returns between 1-2 pm. He tells me that he will watch the boys later so I can go do something by myself (I know this will not happen, but I agree anyway because I know he loves to run and I love it that he loves it.) Plus, this means that he’ll want to go somewhere fun and super yummy for an early dinner. I usually take the boys to the gym on these days. However, this day, I worked out at home because we didn’t want to pick up any germs from the gym daycare right before our trip.
We asked the boys where they would like to go for dinner on Saturday, and they both wanted to go to the Cheesecake Factory. Alexander loves their miso salmon and Christopher likes their chicken sliders. Wolfgang and I like the avocado eggrolls, shrimp scampi (Wolfgang) and miso salmon (me). Plus, the desserts are sooooo yummy. So this was definitely a win win situation for us.
While waiting for dinner, I got to test out my new small camera, which I plan to use all the time for every day documenting. This will be the camera I use and not feel like I have to edit the photographs. It’s tiny (because it’s a mirrorless design) compared to my main one and I looooove it. It won’t replace the other one, but it is decent for every day photography, and will allow me to post photos and blog faster.
It wouldn’t be a real vacation without taking the car selfie at one point:
Day 2:
It rained almost the entire day. We spent it at home, working in the back yard in the afternoon, more playing with toys, and packing. We had IHOP for breakfast, and it was great since we haven’t been there in a long time.
