Austria Part III: Riegersburg

We wanted to stay semi-local and decided to go to the Riegersburg Castle. We picked-up Isabella and met up with Oma and Opa. The plan was to park their car at the train station and take our 7-passenger car. We lost Opa getting to the parking area. Poor Opa got into a minor fender bender on the way there. No worries. No one was injured. I’m like the paparazzi again taking photos from afar.

Then we were on our way. The road was beautiful and winding. Little did we know that the fender bender wasn’t the only problem that day. After we returned to the states weeks later, we received a speeding ticket in the mail. They have these automated boxes that check your speed, and then take a picture of the front and back of your car. You are caught! They can go through the rental company, find your address and issue the ticket.

Riegersburg Castle is owned by the Liechtenstein family. The castle was built on an ancient volcano. There is a museum at the top and you can tour the castle. They have cute pigs, and other animals running around.
