We were planning the whole time to go to Paris as our side trip. Paris, Paris, Paris…??
Then these terrorist attacks happened in November before we went. Hum… We still wanted to go to Paris. The plan was that Oma and Oma were to go with us as a surprise. They didn’t want to go. No one wanted to go with us. So, at 10:30 p.m., the night before we were supposed to drive off to Paris, we saw/felt how long of a drive it would really be, factored in the amount of days we would get to spend there, and decided to switch to plan B, Rome. ?? The boys went to bed thinking that we would be driving to Paris the next morning and woke up to us going to Rome. ?? The mutiny… It was going to be 10 degrees warmer in Rome. I was not prepared for how hot it was going to be, or how awesome everything was. We booked a hotel while driving down to Rome. When we arrived that night, we were greeted with the drive through their red light district. It was a good thing the boys were distracted with their iPads. We didn’t have to explain why cars were pulling over and girls in high heels were leaning into the windows…
We only got to visit for a couple of days so we hit the major attractions. Something we will bring next time are water bottles. It was blazing hot. However there were drinking fountains all over Rome where you can re-fill your bottles.
You can’t go to Rome and not see the Colosseum. It’s amazing to look at it and know that it is almost two-thousand years old, and that the Romans could build something like that and have it still standing. They don’t build things like they used to…
A part of the Palentine Hill. I thought that I also took a picture of the Forum, but I guess not. It was so hot, I couldn’t think… mini heat strokes.

Waiting for us to get water from a constant flowing fountain:
He said,”You can just build something, knock it down, throw some dirt on it and it would look like this. It’s too hot. I need lonely time.”
