Thanksgiving Cruise Part I

We decided to take a Thanksgiving cruise to the Dominican Republic and Turks and Caicos, two places we’ve never been. The week before we were supposed to leave, Christopher along with a few of his classmates came down with a stomach virus. I was sure we were all going to contract it, but luckily, none of us did. I wore gloves, a mask and eye protection to clean up his vomit just to be cautious.

We boarded the ship around 11:30 am. The plan was for us to explore the ship and have the boys play at the water park before the majority of the people boarded. It was pretty windy that day and most of the days we were at sea. Our room was ready as soon as we boarded and our luggage arrived within the next couple of hours. I loved this because we could rest in our room and relax on the balcony. Our side of the ship was very warm because it was sunny and shielded from the wind.

We set sail right before sunset that day.

That evening both Christopher and I got sea sick and had to take some dramamine. The waitstaff at dinner said that the seasickness would subside the next day. I thought they were being nice and positive, but it was true. We were fine the next day. I skipped dinner and went back to the cabin where I fell asleep right away. The next day, the boys played at the water park with the water slides and spent a little time at the Camp Ocean, a place where they have camp staff that create activities for kids such as crafts, relays etc.

The third day we arrived in the Dominican Republic. We walked to a beach and stayed the day.

That evening there was a Dr. Seuss parade throughout the ship which ended at an auditorium with story time. I think I liked it more than the kids. We’re never too old for Disney or Seuss!
