Birthday Crawfish Boil

This birthday sort of snuck up on me. My mom and Wolfgang had been asking what I wanted for my birthday and I kept thinking that they were quite early in asking. So about 1.5 weeks before the day, I realized that it was quickly approaching, and there was no way of pushing my birthday back a few days, weeks, or even years. Now wouldn’t that be nice? So, it’s the end of crawfish season, and what a better way to celebrate than to have a boil? We’ve had some good luck in the past with crawfish while not being in Louisiana anymore. In South Florida, we had them flown in air cargo and picked them up still alive at the airport. A few years ago, we had our friends Eric and Katie over for a boil and we picked them up live somewhere in Roswell. This year we found a place in downtown Duluth off of Main Street called Boudreaux’s. The owner drives down to south Louisiana every week to pick up crawfish. Don’t get too excited right now because this was the last week. Also, they are going to have to relocate their market elsewhere since the building they are in is getting demolished in two weeks. That space is going to be a parking lot. What a shame! It was a great looking building! Hopefully the next time we have a boil, it will be earlier in the year and somewhere near the middle of mudbug season for some good sized bugs!

I didn’t take too many photos this time and am kicking myself for not making a better effort at taking photos. I just haven’t taken that many lately. I’m disappointed for not capturing more of this weekend and photos of all the guests and my family.

It was an overcast day and the kids got a little cold after playing in water.

Loria’s crawfish’s last attempts at showing off disco moves to the Bee Gee’s “Stayin’ Alive”.

Alex was the only kid that would come close to the crawfish.

Christopher is showing off a silly pretzel eating face.

Camden was a bit afraid of these bugs.

Colby’s awesome face going down the slip n’ slide.

Alex loved it too.
